A Glimpse of the Vision I Came to Florida Carrying
For a few hours, I got to stand inside a vision I’ve been carrying for years.
It wasn’t fully built. It wasn’t the big center I’ve imagined. It wasn’t even close to the scale of what I ultimately want to create.
It was one room, one martial arts seminar, and a group of people willing to step into something new.
And Michael and I got to teach it together.
For those few hours, I could feel it.
This was a glimpse.
A glimpse of something my soul has known I’m here to build.
When I moved to Florida, I didn’t come here with small dreams.
I came with a vision.
One of those desires was to bring Filipino Martial Arts to Orlando—and to bring forward the deeper spirit of what Bruce Lee created through Jeet Kune Do.
Within the lineage teachings I have received, Bruce Lee is also recognized as an initiate. Knowing that gave me an even deeper understanding of why the philosophy behind his martial arts has always resonated so strongly with me.
Jeet Kune Do was never simply about learning how to fight.
It was about freedom. Self-knowledge. Adaptability. Personal expression. Removing limitations and discovering what was true and effective for the individual.
The physical training and the development of the human being were connected.
That is the martial arts I love.
Martial arts with a spiritual component.
Martial arts that ask you to know yourself.
To confront fear.
To develop discipline.
To understand your own power and learn how to wield it with intention.
To become more present, more aware and more capable—not simply of fighting, but of moving through life.
And that is much closer to the vision I came to Florida carrying.
A place where martial arts, energy healing, metaphysical teachings and spiritual progression aren’t treated like completely separate worlds.
A place where you might take a JKD class one day and the next day be in a Sacred Geometry class learning how to grid and protect your space.
A place where the warrior and the healer can exist within the same person.
A place where people can discover what it truly means to embody the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine in an aligned way.
Where women can access their strength, power and warrior energy without believing they have to become masculine to be powerful or live from the shadow feminine.
Where men can develop strength, discipline and the warrior within while learning to embody the Divine Masculine rather than its shadow.
A place for people to become stronger physically, mentally, energetically and spiritually.
And doing this alone was clearly never the vision.
Something like this takes a team.
A team of trained initiates who have a deep love for martial arts, understand the spiritual path and genuinely desire to serve humanity.
That’s part of what made this seminar so meaningful to me.
Michael and I taught it together.
We were able to bring our individual experience, training and perspectives into the same room and give people an opportunity to experience martial arts in a way that went beyond simply getting a workout.
How this seminar came together is a wild, crazy story that I’ll save for another time. 😂
But what I can say is that this event anchored something I’ve always known is part of what I’m here to do.
And everything leading up to it taught me a hell of a lot.
I stepped outside of my comfort zone in more ways than I can count.
I handed out flyers everywhere I went.
I sent texts.
I made phone calls.
I invited people I knew and people I didn’t know.
I walked into places and talked to complete strangers about what we were creating.
There were moments when I was stressed beyond belief that the whole thing was going to fall apart.
There was resistance.
There was fear.
There were expectations.
There were moments of disappointment.
And every time, I had to pull myself together and keep moving forward anyway.
I had a big attendance goal for this event.
We didn’t hit it.
But what happened reminded me that numbers aren’t always the measure of success.
Because the people who DID come made this event incredible.
Everyone had fun.
They learned.
They trained.
They asked questions.
They connected.
And they left wanting more.
Because this wasn’t a workout class where the goal was simply to leave exhausted.
Michael and I taught practical, hands-on martial arts built around awareness, a protective mindset and real-world application.
We explored concepts from Filipino Martial Arts, Jeet Kune Do and Wing Chun—working with movement, striking, trapping, timing, distance, positioning, awareness and the ability to respond rather than freeze.
But underneath all of the techniques was something bigger.
Learning to become more aware.
More capable.
More confident.
More present.
More connected to yourself and what is happening around you.
That is one of the things I love most about martial arts.
Yes, you are learning how to protect yourself.
But you are also meeting yourself.
Your fear.
Your hesitation.
Your reactions.
Your confidence.
Your discipline.
Your ability to stay present when something is coming at you.
There is so much more happening than simply learning how to punch, kick or defend yourself.
And standing there beside Michael, teaching and watching people begin to understand and apply what we were sharing, filled my heart in a way that is difficult to put into words.
Because for a few hours, I could see it.
I could FEEL it.
A tiny glimpse of something I have carried inside of me for years.
The community.
The training.
The learning.
The laughter.
The martial arts.
The spiritual progression.
The empowerment.
People becoming stronger and more capable humans.
The warrior and the healer existing in the same space.
It lit my fire.
What I ultimately desire to create may still be years away.
I have no idea exactly what the final version will look like.
I don’t know where it will be.
I don’t know who will ultimately be standing beside me building it.
And I definitely don’t know exactly how all of the pieces will come together.
But I know the vision is there.
And I know I don’t have to have the entire path figured out today.
I just have to keep taking the next step.
Keep training.
Keep learning.
Keep progressing.
Keep putting myself in uncomfortable situations.
Keep meeting the resistance when it shows up.
Keep finding the people who share the vision.
And keep building.
This seminar was one of those steps.
One event.
One room.
One group of people.
One small glimpse of a much bigger vision.
And sometimes that tiny glimpse is exactly what you need to remind you why you started.
Keep going.
This is it…this is the vision I’ve been sitting with for years!
