Filipino Martial Arts Training opportunities!

Martial arts is not about fighting; it’s about building the strength of the spirit and the clarity of the mind. True mastery is found in the journey of self-discovery and unwavering commitment.

Martial arts training offers a profound avenue for spiritual growth and self-mastery, intertwining physical discipline with mental resilience and emotional balance. Here are several ways it supports your journey:

Mindfulness and Presence

Martial arts require intense focus and concentration, demanding that practitioners remain present in each moment. This mindfulness cultivates a deeper awareness of one’s thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations, fostering a connection with the self that is essential for spiritual growth.

Discipline and Commitment

The rigorous training involved in martial arts instills a sense of discipline that extends beyond the dojo. This commitment to practice encourages an unwavering dedication to self-improvement, which translates to all aspects of life, reinforcing the importance of perseverance on your spiritual journey.

Emotional Regulation

Through the physicality of martial arts, individuals learn to manage their emotions, transforming feelings of anger, fear, and frustration into focused energy. This emotional mastery is crucial for spiritual development, as it allows for clearer thinking and more constructive responses to life’s challenges.

Building Confidence

As you progress in martial arts, you will encounter and overcome physical and mental obstacles. Each accomplishment boosts self-esteem and fosters confidence, creating a strong foundation from which you can explore deeper aspects of your spiritual self.

Connection to Tradition

Martial arts often incorporate ancient practices, philosophies, and rituals that guide practitioners on a path of self-discovery. Embracing these traditions can deepen your understanding of your own beliefs and values, enhancing your spiritual practice.

Community and Support

Martial arts typically foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie among students. This community provides encouragement and support, helping individuals navigate their personal journeys with a sense of connection and shared purpose.

Integration of Mind, Body, and Spirit

The holistic nature of martial arts training cultivates harmony between mind, body, and spirit. This integration enhances self-awareness, enabling practitioners to recognize their true selves and live in alignment with their core values.

Resilience through Adversity

Training in martial arts often involves facing challenges and setbacks. Embracing these difficulties builds resilience, teaching practitioners that failure is a stepping stone to success. This resilience is crucial for navigating the ups and downs of a spiritual journey.

Philosophical Insights

Many martial arts come with rich philosophical teachings that explore concepts such as humility, respect, and the nature of conflict. These insights encourage introspection and foster a deeper understanding of one's place in the universe.

Incorporating martial arts into your spiritual journey not only enhances self-mastery but also empowers you to live a life of integrity, confidence, and purpose. This unique combination of physical, mental, and emotional training can be a transformative force in your quest for self-awareness and fulfillment.

Training with Mike and Mary was empowering, eye-opening, fun!, and really met me where I am at. I have boxing and yoga experience and am feeling more ready to step into Warriors of Light training with their support. They created such a memorable environment for our local (RM) team, too - I am positive we all left wanting and excited for more. Mary’s wisdom of purifying the body has been a game-changer in my life, too. I am so grateful!

I participated in a Martial Arts team building workshop with Mary and Mike last winter. The workshop was notable for being engaging and relevant. I went into the session with some trepidation as I’m not active in an organized fitness routine and have done very little with martial arts.  Mike and Mary did an amazing job of integrating a wide range of experience. It felt accessible to me and comments made by friends with much greater experience indicated they received significant benefit from the class as well. It was fun!  I highest recommend the Martial Arts team building workshop as a way to learn valuable skills, grow as a community and have a good time doing it!

I organized a martial arts training with Mike Duffy as a team-building workshop for our local Ritual Masters, inspired by the idea of keeping the warrior spirit alive—challenging ourselves physically while also growing in deeper, more meaningful ways.

The experience far exceeded expectations, and Mike’s depth of experience was obvious. He lives and breathes this work. We practiced martial arts exercises that were familiar from WOL (which was a good review), and we also went through an exercise that was about recognizing what's going on with someone by their facial expressions and energy. It was a really cool and insightful exercise about how we project our energy as we move through the world. I had major insights into situational awareness that I hadn't thought about before.

By the end, the whole team was fired up and asking, “When can we do this again?”We only scratched the surface in that four-hour session, and I’m genuinely looking forward to what future trainings with Mike & Mary will bring.

-Genevieve Wachuka

I really enjoyed the workshop. It was a good physical workout, but I also gained some new skills. And I loved that Mike was able to give everyone personalized attention to details that would improve their skills and abilities.

I signed up feeling a little nervous not having any prior martial arts experience and I walked out confident and wanting more!  Michael and Mary are amazing instructors, they really take their time to help you understand what it is that you’re learning. This training also helped me connect a few dots not only physically but also energetically which I was not expecting. I’m already looking forward to the next training!
